01

You paid for it yourself (not reimbursed).

02

It directly relates to earning your income.

03

You have a record to prove it.

If your total work-related claims exceed $300, you must keep receipts for the entire amount.

Common Deductions You May Be Eligible For

Working From Home

Use the 70c per hour fixed rate for electricity, internet, phone and stationery. Keep a record of actual hours worked.

Travel between different work sites is deductible. Daily commuting from home to your regular workplace is not.

Laptops, tools and uniform laundry are deductible when used strictly for work.

Super Contributions

Personal concessional contributions can reduce your tax. Notify your fund and receive confirmation before lodging.

Union & Professional Fees

Membership fees are fully deductible if they relate to your current job.

Income Protection Insurance

Premiums paid outside your super fund are generally deductible.
